"A child thinks that 20 years and 20 pounds can never be spent".

I'm going to be 40 this March. It has occurred to me that my life is half or more over and I've not done/got/given etc any number of things that I thought I'd have by now. I won't say that it doesn't bother me, because it does. But then I remember that there is still hope for my children. Preparing them is the work I have to do if my life is to count for something.
I've done a lot, I don't feel bad about my life. I do feel bad about my career, and I just wish I had more money. Not Gates or Buffett money, just enough to support my family with comfortably and give to others in need.

As one who has sired and is raising several progeny, I would say you have already accomplished quite a lot.
Anything else after that is gravy.
